Thank you for pointing out so many inconsistencies in the trial scenes. I didn’t catch any of them 😂 aside from the obvious things like Armand’s weirdly weakened appearance. The unreliable narrator thing in this series really was impressively done… need to rewatch again now xd
I have fewer thoughts about this episode, interestingly. I guess it’s because it’s kind of exactly as it should be, and I expected it to be (which is very impressive on the production’s part)? Even with the renewed (?) memories. I do love the two renewed memories. The music especially, when I rewatched. So intriguing. It really gives the feeling of “opening the memory box” vibe.
You mentioned the audience’s reaction to Lestat’s extrance. I think because Santiago seemed to speak a lot to the audience on stage to hype up the show before Lestat actually stepped in, I just thought that he had orchestrated the audience’s cheering for that. It’s not exactly the same, but like in Hadestown, or Hamilton, everyone knows to applaud when someone was introduced (very passionately) on stage xd.

The Hadestown or Hamilton comparison is interesting to think about because of course there’s cult classic shows you go to watch that aren’t ezactly full on pantomime but where it is anticipated and almost expected for the audience to get overly loud and overly excited, because everyone knows what’s coming and people aren’t here to ‘just watch a show’ – Which, honestly, is one of my bigget bug bears, bercause often i AM there to just watch a show lol but I digress. There’s sort of a couple of things that make that not work so well, mainly the fact that this is a new show and a one off perfomance, so no one in the audience had any idea what they were in for. On the other hand however there is never any change in le theatre des vampires, due to the nature of vampires, and lestat is NEW, and that’s exciting. I think I may have said something similar in the podcast about Claudia and her number. it’s not only a new number, it’s a new performer. something the audience doesn’t get a lot. And then of course they do also keep showing us the audience members in basically vampire cosplay… which brings the whole thing closer to a pantomime again, which does lend itself to shouting and cheering at the drop of a hat. hmmmm. yeah.
